Inaugurated by Acharya Umashankar Pachauri Ji on Falgun Krishna 13, Mahashivratri, Yugabd 5125 (March 8, 2024)
In memory of the late Smt. Radhabai Kanitkar and the late Dr. Gayatri Kanitkar, the comprehensive Gurukul has been inaugurated under the name 'Radha Gayatri Kala Gurukulam.' The late Gayatri Kanitkar was an exceptionally skilled vocalist and instrumentalist. After marriage, her grandmother-in-law, the late Smt. Radhabai Kanitkar, always encouraged music education. Since Yugabd 5102, or 2000 CE, the Datta Week program has been organized annually at Shri Datta Temple in Degma Buzruk village. National level musicians participated in this event. Gayatri Ji's wish was to establish an art Gurukul on this land. Honoring this dream, her father-in-law, Mr. Mukund Damodar Kanitkar, provided his agricultural land at the same location to the trust for the Gurukul. Developed with the community's contributions, the Gurukul will offer the next generation an opportunity for comprehensive education. 'Radha Gayatri Kala Gurukulam' will provide knowledge of all subjects, including current prevalent ones, along with arts.

Degma is a revered pilgrimage site. In ancient times, it was part of Dandakaranya. Many sages and seers have meditated here. During their exile, Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana possibly traveled this route from Ramtek to Panchvati. This extremely holy site is where the Gurukul is being constructed.
